In collaboration with the NGO, thr34d5, this is an ongoing research project of material exploration in order to valorize kombucha as a raw material. We are learning to design with the living by growing SCOBY (Symbiotic Cultures of Bacteria and Yeast), otherwise known as bacterial cellulose, into large pellicules for the purpose of creating an alternative to leather.
